We explored quantum algorithms for tackling flight gate assignment at airports, a complex optimization problem with real operational impact. Using near-term quantum devices of IonQ, we tested variational and other current algorithms on this challenge while benchmarking performance against classical optimization methods, revealing important insights about quantum advantage timelines.

Rare Disease Detection

Quantum Machine Learning for Rare Disease Detection.

We developed and tested quantum machine learning algorithms to detect rare diseases in medical datasets. This work bridged fundamental research and real-world applications while exploring how to leverage symmetries inherent in data to improve algorithm performance and understand how hardware noise affects these approaches.
